A little insight into The Kindness Collective...

The Kindness Collective is a group of Sunshine Coast locals sharing their skills and passions to improve the health and wellbeing of Sunshine Coast residents, while bringing members of the community together through free events, classes, and workshops.

It began as a means of assisting those that may be going through a difficult time in their lives, struggling with anxiety, depression, or loneliness. In these states, we often find ourselves stuck in thought patterns that tell us we are not enough, that nobody cares, and that we are alone in life. These same thoughts may stop us from being vulnerable, opening up to our friends and strangers, and from even seeing the loving communities that surround us. The Kindness Collective, in bringing together thousands of open-hearted residents of the local community through a variety of free events, aims to not only inspire moments of joy, but to connect people and remind them that love and supports exists everywhere, and that to ask for help is a strength, not a weakness.

As we come together, support is offered in the simplest way possible - through connection, a listening ear, and a compassionate space where people seek first to understand, empathise, and accept each other. As members of The Kindness Collective, no matter where we are in life, we are all part of this. For we are those who are struggling, and those who may have struggled. We have all lost, grieved, been hurt, or maybe hurt others. We’ve been lied to, cheated on, felt depressed and anxious. And we are still here, sharing in this incredible human experience. We understand, and we accept.

We create small moments of joy, love, and connection for those that may have felt like they have lost it for some time. These reminders are powerful, because as soon as we stop resisting the thoughts we are having, acting as though we are wrong in having them, we can allow ourselves to just be in the moment, as we are, without comparison to others. We can appreciate our ability to feel, whatever that feeling may be, and to understand that feeling is okay, and that, like the clouds in the sky, soon they will pass. We can allow ourselves to feel joy, and love, and understand that without the pain this would not be possible. For it is only in seeing the lowest valleys, that we can appreciate the highest mountains. What a gift!

All the events are free, on one condition; that you leave with a kindness card, to pay forward a random act of kindness to a friend, a stranger, or family member. Or, to use on yourself. To put up on your wall as a reminder that YOU deserve kindness, not just from others, but from yourself, through your own thoughts, words, and actions. Often, it is only when we begin to love ourselves that we begin to feel, and trust in the love we receive from others.

This is the goal of The Kindness Collective.
